Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
While I'm recuperating, I thought I'd show you some photos from our buying trip up in Door County. We accidentally happened upon this amazing warehouse-style shop.
I heart this crucifix a whole bunch but it was more than slightly out of my price range.
Rows and rows of stained glass windows
French house numbers
And a mermaid to keep watch over it all.
A darling old childs bicycle merry-go-round. I want one - even though my kids would break it in 5 minutes flat.
I'm taking it slow for a few days yet. Thank you for your prayers and sweet words.
We spent some time yesterday at my parents house. I can hardly be there without finding new (old) things that fascinate me. Mom can hunt & gather old treasures like nobody's business.
And when you're in the business of hunting & gathering treasures, I've learned somethings from her...
God provides junk!
Just when we need something chippy, faded or rusty to fill a gap at the shop, He provides. I'm learning to depend on Him even for the junk!
Well the inevitable has happened.
On the day that I turned 40 I didn't feel as old as my 16 year old self had thought I would feel. Though I'm sure my old self would be shocked if she suddenly had this 40 year old body. She would want to hit the gym, see the hairdresser, and get some stylish clothes. She'd wonder why I never pierced my nose like I swore I would. She would say, "What happened to law school?" She would be appalled to hear her brother say, "You're just like mom." She would gasp at the idea of homeschool and tell you that she didn't have a domestic bone in her body. She was career-bound. She would own a townhouse, not a farmhouse. She wouldn't like my life one bit. She might even weep.
But on the day that I turned 40, my 40 year old self couldn't stop saying, "Thank you". Thank you, Father, for giving me the real desires of my heart. Thank you for my husband who spoils me - no matter what day it is. Thank you for my mom, who reminded me to be delighted at being 40 and healthy. Thank you for my sister who just wanted to be with me. Thank you for my friends who showered me with sweet words and gifts. Thank you for the years that have given me lots of children. Thank you, Father, that the love of nose rings turned into the love of cameos.
What a blessing to not be my thin, pretty & fashionable younger self!

I thought you might like to see the farm market that we visited last weekend. It's called Green Akers. Isn't that a perfect name?!
Have you ever been to a fruit & veggies stand like this?? Ok, well it's not really a stand. It's a huge ol' barn and it's only part fruit & veggies.
The rest is a store to swoon over...
Oh, and a little update on the puppies... They are all thriving & delightful. Mom Latte is being a good mom and she still loves me, even though I totally overlooked her pregnancy. =) The vet says they are all doing well. Will post some new pictures of them next week.
Have a beautiful weekend!
He rested his 6 year old head against the car door, watching the trees zoom by. His eyes were watery from the wind whipping in all four windows. "MOM!" -He startled me with his anxious shout - "Look! There's no curbs!!"
We decided on a whim yesterday to take the kids out to the country and just see what we could find to do. They complained when we told them, of course.
But when we stopped at a quaint little shop and the manager asked if the kids wanted to play with the baby pigs out back, they warmed to the idea.
And they spent hours practicing their "vaults" over picnic tables, fallen trees, benches - whatever they could find.
All in all... a lovely day without curbs.
