Portable Studio Challenge

Shabby in The City is having a portable studio challenge today. I have the unusual and incredible fortune to suddenly have the entire 3rd floor of our historic home as a studio-to-be.
It's a work in progress! I'm lovingly referring to it as the Servant's-Quarters. (Well, it really was servant's quarters once upon a time...)
As I have been moving things from the previous over populated sewing room up to the 3rd floor, I have this Smucker's box that I've been filling with odds and ends.

When it's full - up it goes.
I have loads of old notions. This is just one of the places they have landed during the move. The other places would include things that are not so unique like plastic Wal-Mart bags.

I often wonder if I will ever get it all done. It's not likely to happen very quickly but you're welcome to watch the progress.

  1. Oh my, Toots, I'm doing a bit of the same thing–redoing/rearranging the sewing/craft room. I finally decided to just put everything to the sides of the room and "introduce" them back into the room. A table here will go over there, that table there will go over here, etc. It's a never ending process, isn't it?! I just need more space in there but this week I need to get an air bed in there for daughter and her hubby's visit. Plus I have 2 3'x 7' trellis to go SOMEWHERE in that room or one in that room and one in my office/painting room. BUT I'd still rather have your attic area for my use than 2 separate rooms, chickee! Good luck to you and I'll post pix when I'm through telling my hubs where exactly I want the shelves to go on the wall. He's gonna brain me!! LOL

  2. Well it wouldn't be fun if it was all done in a day! It looks wonderful so far :) Think of the leg muscles you are building traveling up and down those stairs!
Come put yourself on my Mr. Linky.

  3. I love watching ths progress. It is going to be so lovely. When you're finished, would you come over and help me with my whole house? It looks like a tornado came through this weekend ;)

  4. I am loving your studio and trying to plan how I can sneak up to your sewing area and rifle through some of those wonderful fabrics! Oh you lucky girl:>)

  5. You are so blessed..... not only do you have a historic home, but you get to have the attic as your space.....:0)

  6. Oh my you lucky lady - an entire third floor!!! The servants' quarters no less (I always found those spaces in old homes rather romantic)! If you read my little post today, you'll see why I am so jealous of your crafting space! heehee =)

  7. I love your studio ! Beautiful space ! wonderful fabrics too :) I come from Phyllis blog... :)

  8. Oh!! I would love to have an entire room to put my stuff in. I'm like Louise and have it scattered all over. What a magical place you will have at the top of your stairs!

  9. I am so jealous, not exactly the feeling I should have during Thanksgiving! I want a servant's quarters.....that's me stomping my foot. I would love to come help you move all of your stuff upstairs or out the door and into my truck, haha.

  10. Your studio is coming along just beautifully! I visited the Servants-Quarters blog too, such lovely pictures. I'm in the process of moving my stash from the basement to the attic and just posted about that this morning on my blog - I put a link to your post so my readers can visit you too!

  11. Wow! Is going to be lovely when you finish, how lucky to have a whole floor for all your goodies. I also visit your store , love it too.
When I have more time I'll revisit .
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  12. If I had a 3rd floor studio, I would be living the dream I've had since I was a little girl! Can't wait to see how it turns out for you!

May your Thanksgiving be filled with family and love.

  14. Oh my goodness! I wish I had "servants quarters"! I'd love to be able to devote a whole room to crafts and sewing and creating!
You're looks wonderful so far. I'm sure it will be fantastic when you're done!
    Patricia :o)
