Seasonal Decorating

I am not a good Fall decorator. The colors just don't match any my color schemes. However, the other day I was strolling along ebay avenue and saw this pumpkin pillow by Cinnamonstitch. What a darling idea for Fall - in our colors! She had this sweet kitty too.

I noticed that both of those auctions have already ended but if you're interested, you may be able to place an order.

I know some people slipcover their furniture for the ease of changing the color palette. Take a look at the slipcovers Sheffield's makes!! Wouldn't you just love to have that baby?!

It's taken nearly 40 years but this is what I've figured out about myself... I just like what I like and I don't want to try to like something I don't like. I love the season of Fall but I don't like orange much. I love Christmas but the typical green and red, just don't make me festive. Christmas music though... I could play that for months. See, I'm just some kind of odd ball. I'd love to see how some of you decorate for the seasons. I need some good tips.

  1. Georgous pics! I live in the norhwest mountain of Idaho. Last year I decided to do something different for christmas decorating. I did a northwest theme - plaids, dried berries on the tree, etc. It was nice to break away from the norm! Love, Esther

  2. It is nice to decorate for Christmas in non-traditional colors. Pinks, silvers, white..love that combo...fresh and clean. That pin cushion and angel pillow are wonderful! ~~ Becky

  6. For fall I don't do orange either, I use "old" green tones with burgandy tones and that blends great with my pinks. Oh and go find white pumpkins, those are WONDERFUL!! I love them. And I am like some of these other ladies, I use tons of pinks, whites, silver and gold. I also use white and pink feathers on my tree branches. I love the holiday season! just not in a red and green way:-)
I am rosey the whole year around!!

  7. Well, you will all have to critique my Christmas decor this year. I used to say that I had the tackiest tree in the midwest - big colorful bulb and all the kids handmade ornaments! Maybe we can do two trees this year =) Michelle.. you're starting a blog!! Yay!! -Polly

  8. Polly, you know I am a freak for pink, but when I was much younger and still lived with my parents, I was nuts for orange. My bedroom was orange and yellow. Ugh! What was I thinking? Then in my first apartment after college I had black naugahyde (sp)hand me down furniture from my grandma. In my first real home I decorated in hunter green, cranberry and navy. Now I finally think I have found my "real" style. Keep checking my blog for more pictures of my home and collections. Take care!

  9. Believe it or not, I went through a black phase in my younger years. Of course, I was a teen mom & married to a druggie if that explains anything. Funny how the most obvious things can reflect our lives. -Polly

  14. LOVE LOVE LOVE the pillow! Because I decorate with greens, golds and raspberries, the fall and Christmas colors work in my home. I am not a halloween fan though. For fall I use mums, pumpkins and gourds. Hey! You know what - there are WHITE pumpkins now! They would be nice in your color scheme!
