Wishes

I don't know about you but I'm ready for Spring!
Taking my 13 year old son to school this morning it was foggy and drizzling and yucky.  And the thick of Winter hit me.  I usually make it to about mid-January each year and begin to wish for Spring... wish I lived someplace where it's warm year round.  Lately, my drafty old farmhouse has seemed a bit dreary.  I have even found myself wishing for a different house or money enough to transform the one I have...  Which, of course, leads me to thoughts of how to build the business and bits of jealousy over who may be doing it better... those more popular, etc.  Wondering once again at how easily this discontentment seeps in.

This morning the dj on K-Love was talking about her theme word for the year.... a word that she felt God had given her to focus on for 2011.  I wondered at what my word should be.  It seemed that maybe it should be something like "transform" or "energetic" or "tireless".  Something to motivate me to do more, be more.  But before the red light could change to green, a word popped in my mind..

  1. perfect word. I think when we are thankful and secure in what God has given us, then we're in a place where He can speak to us, lead us, and then move us forward.

  4. I live where it is warm year round and it does have it drawbacks. Maybe live where it is warm in the winter and back to your home state when it's summer, yeah that's a good plan.

Content is a good word and I strive every day to be content with what I'm given, what I have and every day blessings.

  6. I love the feeling of being content. So often i leave that feeling lying in the dust as I scurry to do all these things I think need to be done, This very cold afternoon I have been sitting in front of the fire, reading a good book, and I am content. a good word

  7. What a great post...even with the winter blues (or grays). I love the idea of having a theme word for the year...I am going to think on that for a liitle bit and decide what word will help me become a better wife,mother,daughter,sister...just a better person! Thanks for the post and the motivation...something I really needed! Have a great day :-)

  8. Wonderful post and thought. Oh, to be like the apostle Paul and say we have learned to be content in everything. Sigh. I have so far to go.....

  14. polly, that is a great word, and now i am inspired to find one of my own. it is true that living in a state where it is warm all the time gets to be too much sometimes believe it or not.
