Magnolia Pearl

Those of you who know me well (or even just in passing - because I AM that obsessed), might suspect that I bee-lined straight to the Magnolia Pearl booth, pushing and shoving in a wild panic as soon as the plane landed. Well, I'll have you know that no one was harmed in my frenzied, swift-paced walk from the gate to Tent A!

(Rachel Ashwell & Robin Brown)
Many of you have heard how, in the past, I've been struck stupid while in the presence of creative genius. But this year I did not make an idiot of myself... at least not openly. Of course, on the inside I was speaking all kinds of fibber-di-gibberish (I googled it, and that is officially not a real word but you know the manner of crazy talk I'm referring to).
In fact, upon looking at my photos when I got home, I wonder if some of my struck-stupidness did indeed leak out when I thought I was just thinking it.

But how could I not be dumbfounded by Robin & John's work?! Not just their Beautiful Wear but every show they have a new magnificent display. This season they made the most amazing dressforms that I've ever laid eyes on!! John told me that he and Robin just started making them about 2 weeks before the show. Dumbfounded, I tell ya!!

Robin said that this was her "Alice In Wonderland" mannequin. I want to live in their world - Where dressforms with metal flared sleeves and rusty bows come to life just two weeks before a show as big as Marburger!

I don't even have words for the gorgeousness of it all - even the giant paper magnolias were beyond words. Though I risk appearing a wee bit short of full-on crazy, I really do just stand in awe of everything Magnolia Pearl!
And, yes, I bought the dress.

  2. LOLOLOLOL I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND!!!! I met Rachel Ashwell at Brimfield and totally acted like a crazy woman. THEN I emailed her appologizing about acting crazy!!!!! I just love her and would do the exact same thing to Robin Brown!!!! I LOVE her style. I am sooooo happy that I am not the only one who does this. Ha Ha I have seen movie stars and never once went up to them but those two - oh yes, even got my picture take with Rachel, yes we are on first name basis in my own little world. Seriously she was the sweetest person ever. I'll bet Robin is too. Congratulations!!!!!

  7. Yes, I saw Robin and her husband walking around the week before Marburger opened.....and I had to keep myself from staring at them...she looked at me..and I just nodded and smiled....not wanting to appear that I was indeed the presence of "genius".
I just ..could not say an intelligent word to her. SO YES, I understand completley.

You bought this dress....??? I KNOW it must have cost you a years wages...but it is SO wonderful. Her stuff is beyond belief ...creative.

We had to MISS Marburger Farms Antique Show this time around...my husband ended up in the hospital three days before opening day.. to have a heart cath... (emergency ).
However, he is doling very well amd we are TRULY greatful to GOD that all turned out as well as it did.
I will be counting the days until the SPRING show in Round Top.
Good thing we only live about 1-1/2hours from there.

  19. I love anything t do with ruffles, lace, twine, burlap etc;
    You picked a beautiful dress.
I have been making what I call my "Gunne Sax" table runners for about ten years. They are a big hit for weddings.
You get addicted. I don't care where the ruffle is...yes, I made a rubble sax for my cat...and she looked cute...lol
I love this blog. Just fun ruffles to look at all day...
    Thank you..
