Wearing Size Regular

Why don't they make aprons to be flattering on regular sized gals?
I think it would be so fun to wear an apron over blue jeans but I always feel like an upside down tulip. Except the tulip has a skinny little stem!

But I'm thinking about wearing them in spite of it all.
What about you? Have you reached the place in life where you can step out of your shell and really ENJOY what you enjoy?
Let's twirl, dance & sing when He fills us with joy! Let's wear aprons over our jeans and bloomers under our denim skirts. Let's paint and write and be unique - not just in our blog life but in our real lives. Not putting aside gentleness and modesty and a quite life, let's put aside silly inhibitions that keep us from the joy God intends for us to have.
Go ahead - turn the tulips upside down!

  1. Ooooh, sweetpea, I couldn't have said it better! I'm almost 70 and am very modest. (In my church they stress that.) But I took don't give a whit what others might think as long as I am pleasing before the Lord. Uuuuuh, I must admit that I have a long way to go to perfection, but I am at least on the way. Wear an apron! I do when I cook but mostly when I'm practicing my rose painting. I don't care if I look frumpy. At least I look "cute" to hubs!!!!

  3. WooHoo can we all just form a Frumpy but Funky Liberation? Do I hear another Amen? LOL

Yeppers, there's just something about getting on up there that frees the spirit and we can wear what makes us feel happy because if we feel happy we make others feel that way about themselves. Wear that apron. Wear those bloomers and even a frilly girly girl cuff or two. Oops, and don't forget the crazy socks. Gotta have happy feet too!

  4. Hey, I've been making pinafore aprons that might just be right up your alley. And I agree as you get older, you get better and more at ease with yourself.

  6. Oh, aprons always do look so lovely on others. Mine sit in the closet, as I rush about creating the next meal...they are probably grumbling from their closet hanger that they will never see the light of day.

I am all for wearing them and for joy...if only I could slow down and remember they are to be actually worn.

  8. I have found that with age comes an understanding that even though life isn't always perfect we really only get one chance to live it. It is far too short to continue to worry how we look or who we please. As long as we please God, and he loves us no matter how we look:>)

  9. Hi Polly, My neighbor had a barn party and I wore a jean's outfit (long shorts and jean top...ruffly) and a really cute polkadot apron. I had so many compliments...it was fun! And as for modesty, I am all for it. I truly get embarrassed at what I see some ladies ?? wearing out in public. There was one gal in the grocery store the other day that I just wanted to run over and cover her up. About the church pew on the Vintage Journal blog. I thought exactly as you that the architectural interest on the side looked exactly like a church window. :). Funny thing is I have an old cast iron gate hanging in the entry way too that looks like a church window. :) Have a great week. Maybe someone up there is trying to tell me something. ;0

  10. I am so happy to hear that I am not the only one that thinks bloomers and aprons should be worn proudly! I am with ya-I TOTALLY BELIEVE IN MODESTY and what could be more modest than pretty bloomers under a skirt!

  12. I think I will wear one of my aprons to church, or maybe to go shopping. I wear mine on the plane to work in First Class...most have a little vintage flair to my service. I have always worn them to cook, just like Momma does. One time she used a plastic garbage bag as one...I have the pic. It's great to get old and feel comfortable in our own skin! We are blessed~
