Does Humble Pie taste like Chicken?

Don't waste a moment - scroll down and sign up for the yellow rose umbrella giveaway! I've had a few inquiries about the yellow cake server over to the left... That is one of the items that our Lovely Award winner, E. Dean Designs carries. They have beautiful roses on nearly everything! The cake server is a little pricey but I've never seen anything like it anywhere else.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Here at my house everyone of us is tired! We need a weekend to recover from the weekend! Even hubby called in today.

I said something horrible to him last night and it was so undeserved! How is it that I've been married to this man for nearly 10 years but the experiences of my 1st marriage still loom over me, cause me to be fearful over things that no longer exist?! ...So, ladies today I must humble myself and apologize. Sorrow for my words. Sorrow for not trusting God, yet again. You see, my 1st marriage was full of abuse and cheating and unkindness - on both sides, in a way. So what does that have to with now? The Bible says it best, "To the pure, all things are pure - but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure." My current husband has lived a pretty "pure" life so he doesn't have the instinct to be untrusting, fearful or defensive. I do. I know that God rescued me from a bad marriage and I know that my hubby now and my entire life is a blessed gift from God!! But counting our blessings isn't enough, is it?! And that's the rub!! I've been thinking that this topic is something that I need to address here but, first, I have to pull the log out of my own eye and take care of the issue within my own home. So, today is humble pie day.

While I had some quiet time last night (yep - cause he wasn't speaking to me), I journeyed over to Fifi's blog and noticed that she had some photos of my favorite designer, Magnolia Pearl's home. UGH - do you see those tin ceiling tiles???? No, I didn't go back to the Pec Thing and get them, but I was kicking myself when I saw this photo!

But there's wallpaper designed to look like tin ceiling tiles... maybe that's the way to go. Although, wallpapering a ceiling seems like a nightmare! So I've decided that today I'm going to start the dinning room curtains instead. Or... I might go lay down with my husband for a bit.

  1. So sorry to hear about you and your hubby. I know how awful I feel when something like that happens with me and mine. Just leaves your feeling sick inside doesn't it?
On a brighter note, I too love Robin's designs. The tin roof is so cool. I have read several articles about her in magazines and I always end up feeling like she would be so much fun to hang with. Don't you think? Hope your day goes better. Thinking of you.

  2. Good morning Polly.....I think I've had quite a few servings of Humble Pie over the past 15 years....fortunately it's been quite a while since the last..
James 1;19 is a lesson I practice often...(not just with my husband but others).
    Blessings for a wonderful day,
    Robin

  3. I hope that you and your honey work things out. My hubby and I will be married for 25 years next month and trust me it has not always been a "happy" road to journey down. We have had our ups and downs but end up talking to each other again. I have to tell myself to think before I speak and exercise control sometimes. Kind of like eating humble pie.

Robin's house is wonderful as are her designs. Very old world looking!

Best wishes to you, sweetheart! You have a great heart, peace be to you in your troubled moments.

  4. Hi Polly! Hope that you and your hubby are back to normal by now! It's horrible how things like that can linger on, isn't it! In a way though, I don't think it's suprising that you are still scarred by your first marriage, I know I would be, and I'm sure deep down your husband understands why you might occasionally snap at him!! Have a lovely week! xx

  5. Don't worry Polly. I am sure that there's not any one of us that hasn't had to eat humble pie at one time or another. ~ I love that type of wallpaper you are talking about.

  6. Sometimes no matter how hard we try to overcome our past we still seem have scars that linger around and come back to haunt us on occasion.
Don't be too hard on yourself Polly, your a great person.

  7. Hey Polly!
I have found that humble pie tastes more like crow than chicken. Everyone has stooped to a level a little lower than they would prefer but at least you are aware of the power of God's word and guidance to pull you back up!

    Love,
    Julie

  8. We all do that sometimes, it's called being human. But the good thing is we can ask forgiveness. Take care.

  9. Nope, humble pie isn't very good...trust me...I have had to eat my share..but I remember God's word..."He resists the proud but gives grace to the humble..." Thank you for sharing with us... I can see you know that too! :-)

  10. As I have had occasion to dine on humble pie more times than I care to remember, I have found that although it may taste bitter going down, it is quite nourishing for the soul.

So glad the story has a happy ending! :-)

  11. Sorry about the tiff with you and hubby but all good relationships is are full of lumps and bumps, kinda like Mom's great gravy! :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Magnolia pearl! I saw Fifi's blog with those pics too and I went to bed dreaming of all those fabrics and those tin ceilings! Your bags remind me of Magnolia's :)
