Generally speaking, most people who know me would say that I'm old fashioned, Victorian, into girly lacy stuff. And generally speaking, they would right. But, as I've mentioned recently, I have discovered that I have a bit of Barn Chick in me!
We had a barn when I was growing up and I suppose that might have influenced my love of old barns. But truth be told, my favorite barns are the ones that have big ol barn sales!
How about you? Do you have a favorite barn?

So I was very delighted when I was asked to be part of the Barn Chick party at Brayton Homestead Interiors. We're all posting pictures of our favorite barns.
This is one that I just had to share... Our family passes this odd barn every July on our trip up to Door County but we have never come to a consensus on who would put their house on top of the silo - and why. It appears to be abandoned now but once upon a time, some creative person had an awesome view of the sunrise. We had a barn when I was growing up and I suppose that might have influenced my love of old barns. But truth be told, my favorite barns are the ones that have big ol barn sales!

Barns have to be one of thee most amazing sturctures ever made by man.
ReplyDeleteThey experience much more abuse, do to the fact that they are being used for farming and most often times housing livestock..but yet they stand the test of time and are still around for us to enjoy and explore..and yes even put a house on top...Barns are truly AMAZING!!!

So happy I found your blog. It's beautiful! You are a girl after my own heart with all of these wonderful photographs & wares. I love old, rustic barns. I wish I lived in one (then I wouldn't feel obligated to apologize for my 7-year-old's mess when company comes!). Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteEnjoy!

I agree, barn sales are the best! (as long as there is rusty, chippy and lovingly used junk!) You've captured some wonderful barns here. I think I actually saw an episode on HGTV a few years back about a couple that lived in a silo, it had a spiral staircase going up to the top and the top was full of windows. It was actually very cool.
ReplyDeleteFrom one barn chick to another,
Blessings! Lisa :-)
I live on the way to Door County!
ReplyDeleteCan not say I know that silo barn though. You'll have to tell me more about where to look. (Of course we travel the back roads. All barn chicks do.)
Your altered party art caught my eye so off I go to explore your site.

I must say, seeing the little red dwelling atop the silo is a first for me.
ReplyDeleteI love girly, lacy things too, but I'm still very much a barn chick.
