She pondered it outloud, not really asking me for an answer. "Do fairies eat?"
"Some people say that butterflies are kinda like fairies and butterflies do indeed eat," I told her.
She fluttered to my side, looking every bit like a fairy, and gazed up at me as only a 6 year old daughter can. She asked, "Fairies aren't real, are they?" *sigh* What's a mom to say? "I think it would be great fun if they were real but, No they aren't. But Angels are real and the Bible says that sometimes we entertain angels unaware so maybe sometimes we have some garden angels."
As the afternoon sun was cooling and I was noticing the weeds, I found a little scrap of paper tucked into the flower pot...

this is so lovely....I totally believe in angels and fairies...you don't have to see it to believe it..Like love....you can see its effects but not 'it' but we have all felt its power...Oh..why do any of us have to grow up?!!

Adorable! I always told my daughter that as long as she believes - it is real. Santa Claus still visits at Christmas and she is 23! LOL It's fun for all! I believe an imagination is so important in a child's life. They just grow up too fast these days. I think I would frame that note!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have a blog award for you!!!! come by and pick it up...Have a wonderful weekend too! hugs, Jennifer
ReplyDeleteMy daughter will be 9 next month and she still believes in fairies!
