I was reading Sadie Olive's article in the new Artfully Blogging last night and in her interview she points out a few mistakes that some bloggers make in the design of their blog. One that really caught my attention was too much sidebar content. She says that it causes the page to load too slowly and causes loading errors. I have a wireless DSL connection, two hard drives and lots of memory (one can never have too much!) so I don't usually experience trouble while blog surfing. But I wondered if some of you do. Can I pick your brains about MY blog?

I'd like to elaborate on the poll. I love sidebars. Your's is fine loading and wonderful "eye candy" but I have been to some where it loads so slowly it's frustrating. I, too, have wireless DSL, external HD and scads of memory. I believe the playerlists slow sites down more than anything though, sweetpea. It rarely stops me from visiting a page, but it distorts the pages sometimes to where I cannot read everything on there and I have a 23" Mac Cinema Display! Now, enough seriousness. Let's get fun here. I think those little cushions are adorable!!! I'm going to find the pattern and make one as soon as I get the redecorating out of the waaaAAAAaaaay, sweet chick!

ReplyDeleteI love your blog, your sidebars, every thing about it. I even tried making a banner with one of your blog makeovers. I did it! I made 4 of them. If I can do it, anyone can. I've used your sidebars A LOT, and I think they are fun and pretty. Wish I could do all that neat computer stuff!

Maybe some computers have a slow dial up ?? I don't know but mine is fine..I use Verizon..

Hi Polly! I just voted ~ your site loads fine & quickly for me, as do most sites. A few (mine included) seem slower with music added. Hmmm, I wonder if people really like music or if it is distracting? Maybe we should survey that, too!
